Is there anything worse than a toothache? The endless throb that just won’t get away and won’t let you think about anything else. At the first sight of tooth or gum pain you should be getting yourself to a dentist, because understanding where a toothache is coming from is the first step in getting rid of that pain.
What causes tooth pain?
There are so many different potential causes of tooth pain, and that makes it hard to self-diagnose, much less address. Some of the most common reasons (but certainly not all of them) include:
- Poor tooth alignment leading to deep bite or traumatic occlusion
- Impacted wisdom teeth
- Improper brushing and/or flossing
- Teeth grinding while you sleep/ jaw clenching when asleep
- Damaged fillings or cavities in your teeth (Tooth decay)
- Gum diseases
- Tooth abscesses and infections
- Any ulcerations or lesions adjacent to the teeth
As you can see, that’s a wide range of issues, and of course, treatment for any of them can vary greatly. Some might address themselves over time, however in most cases the only way to address tooth pain is with a visit to the dentist.
The good news is that the team at Parra Dental Studio will be able to address your issue quickly – generally on the same day. Even better, in many of the above cases – and with many other examples of tooth pain – we’re going to be able to start alleviating the pain and addressing the root cause of it immediately.
What’s important to understand is that whether the pain come from an issue with the teeth, root canal, or surrounding gums, the longer it goes untreated, the more damage it’s going to cause… and potentially will result in further complications.
Never assume the cause of a toothache. Instead, make a booking with Parra Dental, and we’ll work out how to get rid of the pain and get you back to enjoying life quickly.
